“Francis Herbert Whittington, known to his friends as Frank Whittington, was the creator of Forest Toys. He was born\u00a0in 1876, and was the fourth of 13 children. He was a descendent of the famous Sir Dick Whittington, three-times mayor of London. Frank was a talented artist and carver. He established his toy making factory in 1922. The Forest Toys factory in the New Forest became well-known for its painted wooden toys. The factory closed at the start of World War II. Frank Whittington died in 1973, aged 97, in Tunbridge Wells.”<\/p>\n
