The Forest Toys of Brockenhurst by Janet Gent.

“Francis Herbert Whittington, known to his friends as Frank Whittington, was the creator of Forest Toys. He was born in 1876, and was the fourth of 13 children. He was a descendent of the famous Sir Dick Whittington, three-times mayor of London. Frank was a talented artist and carver. He established his toy making factory in 1922. The Forest Toys factory in the New Forest became well-known for its painted wooden toys. The factory closed at the start of World War II. Frank Whittington died in 1973, aged 97, in Tunbridge Wells.”

This illustrated book explores the history and the variety of Forest Toys and their creator, written by an enthusiastic collector of the toys.

I loved this book on so many levels. The photography is superb and there is such a wealth of information. I was drawn in by the dogs, but finished the book loving it all.
A must for the collector, but also a very good read.
Thank you, Janet for all your research and perseverance taking the book to publication.
